Step 1 of 5

Download the app

On the phone that will send the messages, tap the button below. You can also open this link in Chrome: teachersapp.in/TeachersApp_SMS_Sender.apk

Download SMS SenderAPK · 3.15 MB

If Chrome says “This type of file can harm your device”, tap Download anyway. Chrome shows this for every app downloaded from a website.

Opened this page inside the Teachers App? The download runs in the background — watch for the Download complete notification.

Step 2 of 5

Install it

  1. Tap Open when the download finishes — or open Files›Downloads and tap TeachersApp_SMS_Sender.apk.
  2. If Android says it is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, go back and tap Install.
  3. If a Google Play Protect warning appears, tap More details›Install anyway.

Why not the Play Store? Google Play restricts SMS permission to messaging apps, so SMS Sender is installed directly from teachersapp.in instead.

3

Step 3 of 5

Allow SMS permission

Open SMS Sender and tap Grant SMS permission. Allow SMS and Phone when Android asks.

Allow switch greyed out, or tapping it does nothing? Newer Android versions lock SMS permission for apps installed outside the Play Store until you unlock it once:

  1. Open Settings›Apps›Teachers App SMS Sender›Permissions›SMS and tap it once. If a Restricted setting message appears, tap OK.
  2. Go back to the app's App info page, tap ⋮ (top-right) and choose Allow restricted settings. Confirm with your PIN or fingerprint.
  3. Open Permissions again and allow SMS and Phone.

You only need to do this once. The Notifications permission is optional — it shows sending progress.

4

Step 4 of 5

Get your 6-digit pairing code

Open Teachers App — on this phone, another phone, or a computer at web.teachersapp.in — signed in with the institute owner's account, then go to:

Settings›SMS from my phone›Get pairing code

A 6-digit code appears on that screen. Keep it open for the next step.

  • The code expires after 10 minutes and works once.
  • Ran out of time? Just tap Get pairing code again.

Don't see SMS from my phone in Settings? Make sure you're signed in with the owner's account — teacher logins don't show it.

Step 5 of 5

Link the phone

In SMS Sender:

  1. Check that Server address shows https://web.teachersapp.in — it's filled in already.
  2. Type the 6-digit code from Teachers App.
  3. Under Send using, choose the SIM to send from (on dual-SIM phones).
  4. Tap Link to my account. The app confirms with “Linked to your institute”.

You're all set

When you send a message in Teachers App, choose SMS from your phone. Track every message in Settings›Message Delivery›My phone.

Keep it sending reliably

Turn off battery saving for the app

In SMS Sender tap Battery settings and set it to Unrestricted or Don't optimise. On vivo, OPPO, realme and Xiaomi phones, also allow Auto-start or background activity.

Nothing is lost if the phone is off

Messages wait in a queue and go out when the phone reconnects. To send them straight away, open SMS Sender and tap Send waiting messages.

Messages go out a few seconds apart

This pacing stops Android from pausing the app for sending too fast. A class of 40 takes a few minutes.

Write your own wording

Change the text of each message in Settings›WhatsApp/SIM Messages. WhatsApp-style *bold* marks are removed automatically for SMS.

Use it responsibly. Messages go from your own number and use your SIM's SMS pack. Sending a lot of messages from a personal number can lead your mobile operator to restrict it — keep volumes reasonable and only message parents who expect to hear from you.

Troubleshooting

“App not installed”
  1. Check the downloaded file is 3.15 MB. If it's smaller, the download broke — download it again.
  2. Uninstall any older copy of Teachers App SMS Sender first (Settings › Apps), then install again.
  3. If Play Protect stopped it, tap More details›Install anyway.

Still failing? Contact us below with the phone model and a screenshot of the message.

The SMS “Allow” switch is greyed out or does nothing

Android is locking SMS permission because the app came from outside the Play Store. Follow the three unlock steps in Step 3 — ⋮ › Allow restricted settings — then allow SMS again.

Where do I get the 6-digit code?

In Teachers App: Settings›SMS from my phone›Get pairing code. The code shows on that screen. See Step 4.

The pairing code doesn't work

If SMS Sender says “That code has expired”, the code was mistyped, already used, or older than 10 minutes. Tap Get pairing code for a fresh one and type it in right away.

Also check that Server address in SMS Sender is exactly https://web.teachersapp.in.

“Could not reach the server”

The phone has no internet connection, or the server address was changed. Turn on mobile data or Wi-Fi, check the address is https://web.teachersapp.in, and try again.

Messages stay “Queued” and never send
  1. Open SMS Sender — it should say Linked to your institute — and tap Send waiting messages.
  2. Make sure SMS permission is still allowed and the SIM has an active SMS pack.
  3. Turn off battery saving for the app (see the tips above) so it can send when the screen is off.
Messages go from the wrong SIM

Open SMS Sender and change Send using to the right SIM. New messages use it immediately.

I don't see “SMS from my phone” in Settings

Sign in with the institute owner's account — teacher logins don't show it. If you are the owner and it's still missing, contact us below.

Switching to a new phone

In Teachers App go to Settings›SMS from my phone›Link a different phone, then link the new phone with the new code — it replaces the old phone automatically. To stop sending from a phone altogether, tap Unlink this phone.
